Public Comment Period
The Older Americans Act (OAA), as amended in 2020, Section 306(a) requires each Area Agency on Aging (AAA) to prepare an Area Plan (AP) on Aging for its public service area (PSA) addressing a two-, three-, or four-year period, as determined by the State Unit on Aging (SUA). The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) serves as the SUA in Texas. The Rio Grande Area Agency on Aging under the Rio Grande Council of Governments has prepared the Area Plan on Aging for Fiscal Years 2027–2029. The AP identifies the needs of older adults and family caregivers within the PSA and indicates how the AAA plans to address these needs through the development and/or expansion of new and existing community services. The public is invited to review and comment on our 2027-2029 Area Plan. Public Comments will be accepted through April 30, 2026.
